PROGRAMS - PREMIUM DISCOUNT PROGRAM

Companies which are not eligible for our Group Rating Program due to high experience are encouraged to participate in this incentive program which provides for a 30% discount from workers' compensation premiums over a four-year period.

Benefit Management Services of Ohio, Inc. will assist penalty rated clients in applying for this program and our experienced, expert staff will work with you to control costs, which is the key to reducing your workers' compensation liability.

To be eligible for this program an employer must:

  • Be penalty rated, effective July 1 (January 1 for public employers).
  • Not be participating in either Group or Retrospective Rating Programs in the same policy year.
  • Be current on all premiums due BWC.
  • Be in active status the first day of the policy year.
  • Not have excessive lapses in coverage.

Employers participating in this program must:

  • Implement and comply with the BWC's 10-Step Business Plan.
  • Allow BWC access to their job sites to review and assist employers' progress with the program.
  • Submit evidence of implementation and progress of accident reduction.
  • Complete the program within seven (7) years.

Upon request, Benefit Management Services of Ohio, Inc. will develop the 10-Step Business Plan for you which includes the development and implementation of an effective Safety Management Program.

The PDP (10-Step Business Plan) requires the employer to develop the following:

  1. Visible, Active Senior Management Leadership
  2. Employee Involvement and Recognition
  3. Medical Treatment and Return-to-Work Practices
  4. Communication
  5. Timely Notification of Claims
  6. Safety and Health Process Coordination
  7. Orientation and Training
  8. Written and Communicated Safe Work Practices
  9. Written Safety and Health Policy
  10. Recordkeeping and Data Analysis
